> So I took him to the vet. they did blood work, xrays, a full examination, gave him barium, an enema(spelling) and a laxative to take home. She told me that it looked like he was constipated, to rub his belly alot and to give him the laxative (laxotone) every 8 hours.

Does sound like he may have had a partial obstruction, which wouldn't necessarily show up on an x-ray. I am assuming he had a barium x-ray?? Were there a lot of gas pockets on the x-ray?

Did she have any idea what might have caused the constipation?? Is it possible you misunderstood what she meant?

A tumor, hairball or foreign object could cause difficulty that might appear like constipation.

There are motility issues that are associated with various GI diseases. Has this been ruled out?

Does he have a prolapsed rectum?

The laxative may be doing its job too well and is causing him to strain and feel like he has to go, but there's nothing left to pass.

I just dont know what to do...he doesnt bounce around like he used to anymore.

Call the vet and let her know that you are worried and wonder whether maybe the laxative dose should be adjusted?

Until all systems are working as they should he will be feeling under the weather - this is to be expected.
