Not exactly.
First you have to have the hormonal changes before the
signaling and growth factors happen. They did that with the
photoperiods in sheep and with melatonin implants in ferrets.
The hormonal changes is step 1, and the signaling and growth
factors are step 2.
Not really separate pathways, but a 2 step process.
