Hi Kristine,

Sulcralfate/Carafate is much better tolerated than Pepto. Ask your vet about switching her to the Carafate, which is given 20-40 minutes before feedings.

If she has an obstruction of any kind she should not be force fed! Its not clear from your post whether your vet is going to surgically remove the hairball obstruction if it hasn't passed soon.

Did she pass any of it on the weekend? If not, I would seriously consider emergency surgery to remove it.

Ask your vet to show you how to administer sub-q fluid hydration in case you ever need to do it in future.

At the moment the presenting obstruction is of immediate concern.

Given her possible forming ulcer if she undergoes surgical intervention ask your vet to administer Famotidine as well.

Seriously I would not wait for the obstruction to possibly pass on its own.

She's seen me through some pretty tough times during the past 4.5 yrs.
