I checked as well with a ferret expert and this was the response:
"IATROGENIC Cushing's disease is caused by an overdose of prednisone (or other steroid) and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with adrenal gland disease as diagnosed in the ferret. It is the "pred belly" that ferrets get when treated with high doses of steroids for a long period of time. It does not cause adrenal gland cancer (which is what AGD is -- hyperplasia or cancer).
Completely misinformed, and plain old wrong. TONS of studies have looked at cortisol in adrenal ferrets -- and *VERY RARELY* is hypercortisolemia a feature in AGD."
