Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Probiotics given right after giving Antibiotics

Yes the antibiotics are not selective and kill off the good bacteria in the probiotic as well. In dogs and cat I make sure it is at least an hour a part, you may not need to wait that long in ferrets since they have a quick transit time. Usu 20 or 30 minutes minimum is good.

I like giving them their soup immediately after, since they are so traumatized by these meds and they LOVE their soup. In Ellie's I am mixing Forti-flora per the vet, and boris gets Marshalls probiotic mixed in soup. Are the probiotics useless given immediately after the antibiotic? Do I need to space the antibiotic and probiotic out to make them most effective?? Thanks in advance.
