Subject: [ferrethealth] Implant question
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Last week I had Deslorelin implants put into 2 of my ferrets.=A0 The little=
girl had a large opening left and the next day I checked her and there was=
something crusty with what looked to be a green colored bit attached to th=
e edge of the opening.=A0 I didn't want to disturb it and kept an eye on he=
r.=A0 I took her back to the vet when I noticed it was not there though the=
vet said he could feel the implant under the skin.=A0 Today I can not feel=
anything at all and am now wondering if what I saw (the green little bit) =
was in fact the implant having back out of the large hole left?

Can anyone confirm the color of these implants from Peptech?=A0 Is there an=
y other means of knowing if the implants is there?=A0 This little girl has =
had an adrenal glands removed last year so it's critical that she has hers =
in place.=A0 When I check the boy ferret, I can definitely feel his in plac=
e.

Thank you for any help or advice.

[Did your vet put surgical glue on top?
I am trying to recall -- and might be
wrong -- but I think that one of the
glues is between blue and green in
color so what you see as green the
vet might see as blue.

Implants do shift, and we've noticed that
more in some individuals than others
so in some they have to be located
first.

You can also send a mail to Peptech
Animal Health, which is on the web, to
ask about coloration.
