We had a ferret who had a chronic pneumonia, unfortunately we did not recog=
nize that until after he had passed away.
We referred to him as our couch potato because he normally just got up to e=
at go to the bathroom, or look for another place to sleep.
We had blood tests, fecal tests, ultra sounds, cardiac ultra sound, and x-r=
ays. Nothing showed anything except a mitral regurgitation, which was not =
severe enough to cause his couch potatoishness.=C2=A0 One set of x-rays did=
show a one of his lungs looked odd like pneumonia (maybe) and we treated h=
im for it with antibiotics.=C2=A0 He showed some improvement for a few week=
s, after the antibiotics, but slowly went down hill.=C2=A0 We had him in to=
the vet again when he was getting worse again (this was when he went from =
couch potato to door stop), we were going to try some antibiotics and do an=
exploratory the next week but he took a sudden turn for the worst and pass=
away.=C2=A0 We had a partial autopsy and he found that he had a lung infec=
tion.=C2=A0 He had lesions on his lungs and even a couple on his heart.=C2=
=A0 One thing to point out he was pretty big and heavy, our heaviest, not s=
ure if your fuzzy is big because of something like this or not.
