I've had a few with the jaw not properly aligned and the canines will jut upward towards the upper lip. None every had any lip piercing from the tooth. I too was concerned the first time, and took him to the vet. Our vet said not to worry and just watch to make sure it didn't cause a sore. It didn't in any of them. They had an Elvis sneer. ;-)
