Subject: [ferrethealth] Friend needs HELP with vomiting ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I am posting for a friend and here is the problem, can anyone help or know of anyone that has experienced this with a ferret????

Please help if you can. I have a friend who lives in a very remote part of Canada. Vet care is spotty at best. He has an older male ferret 6-7 yrs old. Acts pretty good except for he's occasionally vomiting what looks like poop and smells like poop, but says it's not digested blood. There's no tooth grinding, so don't suspect ulcer, but I can't think of anything else but an ulcer. Have any of you experienced this?"
"Also, he is normally little busy ferret, however, when he is trying to puke this up, he is really lethargic, basically all 4 spread out like he is done. He had it on and off for few days, took him to vet, got some fluids and a broad spectrum antibiotic (I think amoxi). That perked him right up. When he gets up he is dry heaving and scratching at inside of his mouth.....
no blockage, vet checked. Pooping and peeing normally. Just had a pile of poop tube (ferret vite, loves that stuff)

Does anyone know what is going on? any ideas????

[My assumption is that this poster wrote the
text since it also says that it is being posted
for a friend.

If this obviously had not been written by the
poster then we would have needed the author's
permission sent directly to us moderators to
avoid copyright violation.

Posters can ask info for friends without their
permission being sent to us as long as the words
are your own and you do not divulge any personal
information about them.
