To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Where in Canada is your friend located? There are ferret rescue organizations throughout Canada that would know who the ferret friendly or knowledgeable vets are closest to where your friend lives.

The attending vet can consult with a ferret expert vet anywhere in North America. My vets have consulted with several in the U.S. And vets that are less knowledgeable about ferrets have consulted with my vets.

Its highly unlikely that the ferret is vomiting stool. Vomitus can smell pretty badly depending on what the underlying issues are.

Scratching inside of the mouth is a reaction to extreme nausea - sometimes very bad tasting medicine.

A number of conditions will cause vomiting besides ulcers including insulinoma, Eosinophilic Granulomatous (EGE), megaesophagus, an obstruction, neoplasia or lymphoma in the stomach or pylorus, liver disease, etc.

If he has insulinoma, FerretVite is not a great idea because it is very sweet.

Has the ferret had his blood glucose checked? Is he still on antibiotics?

Final question is the first one I asked - where in Canada is your friend located?
