I believe the medication you may be referreing to is called Denamarin.
It is also used to treat liver issues as is Denysol (which may be spelt
wrong).
I have NEVER been successful in giving either of these medications to
my ferrets. The bill should be given on an empty stomach and should
not be broken down, however my vet has told me to go ahead and grind it
and add to food or treat.
I have been successful with soaking it long enough in vivfy (being it
broke down enough to pass through the syringe) however the ferret
fought it so badly he foamed at the mouth. Because he has to take a
lot of meds, and I know the result will be refusing the treat or food
if added in food.... I stopped this med. After 16years of having
ferrets, I have never successfully been able to administer these meds.
He is also taking Ursodiol for his liver. That has been administered
to me by my vet broken down and mixed petinic. I have also had it
compounded in the past. It is much easier to give and is great for the
liver. Not sure if it will help your ferrets specific issue, but as
you vet.
