BTW, just as reduction in light allows the
body to increase melatonin production,
so, too, does increased day length decrease
the melatonin production and that can
set ferrets up hormonally for irritation of
the adrenals, and eventually tumors.

You are also providing many very dark places
to sleep, though, and that is important.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to live in
a situation where it is possible to provide
areas for the ferrets which only have natural
lighting. In some places housing is so
incredibly expensive that people must live
small with areas having multiple uses. We
have to do that where we live.
