To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I don't think ANY amount of caffeine is safe for ferrets. It is a known toxin.

Cola syrup's main ingredients are high fructose corn syrup and sucrose (sugar). There is an organic brand that lists rice syrup as the main ingredient - again very sweet! I am puzzled that it would help with nausea although it does claim to. Perhaps its a psychologically beneficial effect for those who regularly drink soda??? Speculating here.

However, none of the ingredients in cola syrup would be good for ferrets and certainly caffeine would be harmful.

[The pharmacist said the mechanism is
extremely good coating for both esophagus
and stomach, and it worked as an excellent
antiemetic for that human, but like you the
caffeine aspect makes me think "not for ferrets".

Lack of sleep sometimes causes me to
ask stupid questions...
