The first step is the logical one, of course:
The ferret needs to go to a ferret knowledgable veterinarian
To find one here are two lists of vets recommended by
people with ferrets and a list of shelters which also shows
the vets those shelters use:
http://ferrethealth.org/vets/
http://www.ferretuniverse.com/vets/vetlist.asp
http://supportourshelters.org/
Foods recommended by vets include a/d and Carnivore Care for
sick ones but first it is important to assess the ferret's health
for things other than being lost or dumped leading to not having
access to food. For instance, the ferret may have tried to eat
something it should not and may have a blockage or could have
other health related needs.
