To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I have also used the large dog tubes of revolution and measured the dose out per ferret. From what my vets have told me, the concentration doesn't matter as long as the dose is correct. I would suspect if the higher concentration where a problem it would be irritating to the skin. I have never had any problems with it in the past few years.
As for the heartworm protection, the debate started because there were several cases reported where larger dogs tested positive for heartworms while on Revolution. Based on this, the vets I work with recommend other heartworm preventatives for large dogs. However, efficacy in any species besides dogs and cats has never been tested as far as I know so the dose could be vastly different or it might not work at all.. We just don't know.
