For the record, no I'm not confusing sucralose with Xylitol. Sucralose is
the generic name for Splenda and I won't touch the stuff because I believe
there's a difference between "Generally Regarded As Safe" and "Safe". I
figure if I don't want to consume it and I carefully read labels to avoid it
for my household (it gives my husband migraines) then I'm not going to feed
it to my pets. I know to keep products containing Xylitol away from my pets,
too.
Katy's vet has provided a formula to mix Benadryl tablets with water. Katy's
not impressed with the taste so we're going to have to see if we can make it
more palatable - maybe with some FerreTone. The vet wanted to avoid the
sugar issue altogether, presumably because of Katy's small size - that's why
we're not using a diphenhydramine liquid. That would be so much easier
because she's learned to love the syringe - good tasting things have come
from it so far.

[Make sure first that the Benedryl is safe
and effective given with oil, or just get
the infant version (which is already
liquid) that has been recommended.
Not all meds work with oils, not all
work with water, and some have other
things to take into account.
