Subject: [ferrethealth] runs and drooling.
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hello,
I was looking though the archives to see if i could find anything first before I posted but I havent found anything i dont think so here I am.
i'm posting about a ferret who is not mine but im baby sitting her while her mommy is at work.
She got the runs 48 hours ago then last night she stoped eating and drinking, the vet took bloods felt about said cant feel anything wrong and white cells are fine. So he sent the bloods away and sent us home with baytril ( of cource)
Her symtoms are, drooling and lethargy. She might still have the runs I dont know because shes not done the loo since yesterday. I've been syringing some convalencance diet slighly warm and suite watery for her, she dosent seem to be dehydrated.
Any ideas what i can ask the vet to look for what might be wrong or what I can do to help her. Thank you :)
Kelda
[That sounds like it could well be insulinoma.
Have the vet run the blood GLUCOSE
and do so promptly.
See these to begin learning:

Insulinoma is one of the more common
medical problems in ferrets and there is
a lot in the archives on it once you know what
terms to look up. Vets who are used to ferrets
are used to seeing it.
