It sounds like there are a number of health issues with this ferret. Helicobacter can be identified through biopsies taken from the stomach, pyrolrus, gastrointestinal tract.
If you email me privately, I can send you a number of papers for your vet.

Because Helicobacter appears to be a common issue for ferrets I believe many vets treat based on clinical symptoms.
