These symptoms can also be attributed to lymphoma, and probably some other illnesses as well. Increased or rapid respiration is usually a sign of pain. Your ferret is very sick and the abdomen, which I gather from your emails has been swollen for some time now, is a bad sign. Ultrasound may help diagnose better, but trying to base a diagnosis on symptoms alone is not in the best interest of your ferret. Consider her condition, her age, and her apparent discomfort/pain in any decisions you make.

May I ask if 3 of the four on the cardiomyopathy signs and symptoms list you mentioned is enough to indicate a worsening or presence if cardiomyopathy?
