Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Roo - My sickly Ferret

I would like to thank all who responded to my post about my sick Roo - she is doing soooo much better now that she is on the steroid - and now for the life of me i can not remember the name of it!!! but none-the-less she is doing 100% better!!! it was so hard to watch her go thru her bouts with the insulinoma...she just looked like she was in sooo much pain and that is the last thing i wanted her to be in!!! But she is back to herself again!!! She does hate having to take her meds, but we push thru it everyday - two times a does have another benefit...she gets to play longer after her meds...since she is my only ferret, she gets just me & her time...where she gets to run and play in my bedroom for a while until she seems tired...i dont let her get overly tired, as she is getting up there in age...i want her remaining years to be happy and pain free...and for now that is what she is!!!

thanks again!!!

and this is a wonnerful blog...hope everyone has a great day, week, year!!!

kathryn & roo!!!

It essentially causes hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which causes the ferret to feel nauseous, very tired, mentally dull, lose weight, hind-end wobbliness and a number of other symptoms. Without treatment the ferret can become seriously ill and will die. The steroid your bf got from the vet is a treatment, it must be given as prescribed, and given on after eating on a regular schedule.. The dosage will be on the bottle.
