Loss of hair IS an obvious sign of adrenal disease. It could just be a coat change, but at his age, it's highly unlikely, and a coat change does not leave them bald or near bald. He definitely needs to see a ferret vet right away, and if he was my ferret I'd get a melatonin implant immediately, and also a deslorelin implant, if they have them. If not, then a Lupron Depot shot can take the place of the deslorelin implant. Do not wait! If his prostate is also enlarged, then he could be in danger of having a urinary blockage, which is fatal if not treated within hours. You have to realize that 7 years is old for a ferret, and, unfortunately, adrenal disease is very common in older ferrets.
