Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Sudden return of adrenal symptoms?
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

This may have nothing at all to do with his adrenal disease. Stout may have had borderline insulinoma that was being kept in check by eating regularly to keep his blood glucose level near normal. If he went on any kind of a˜hunger strike" while you were away, it could only take 6 or 8 hours for his blood glucose to plummet, causing most of the symptoms you describe. At his age, insulinoma is a common disease, and you may now have to begin treating him for it. But first, he needs to be examined by a good ferret vet, with a definite blood glucose check.

It's also possible that in addition to not eating, he also didn't drink enough water, so dehydration could be a part of the problem.
