Yes, and to the things mentioned by Tressie and Jeff there are other possibilities to add.

Adrenal disease can cause urinary blockage. Often in ferrets the first obvious sign of urinary blockage is inability to pass feces, but sometimes it is something else like dribbling. This is a serious emergency situation.

Also a serious emergency situation and also among the things fitting the symptoms is intestinal blockage, and the causes of that can even be behavioral from eating something which should not have been ingested.

If they consider this an emergency at the hospital they MIGHT help you find an alternative ferret vet, but you can use these resources:

http://www.ferretuniverse.com/vets/vetlist.asp

and in this one you can also find who is treating ferrets by going to the shelter list for your own area and then seeing which vets they list:

Do not wait with this ferret; there are some types of emergencies which become a lot harder to even treat and a lot more prone to complications if survived when there is delay.

Obviously, there are other options but I think the most common very serious possible causes which best fit your scenario have been mentioned and you will probably notice the vets checking those things first, but then looking at less common causes as well as looking for ones which are less serious if the short list rapidly dangerous ones are not present.

Sukie (not a vet)
