We have had two with food allergies in 30 years. One always retained some damage and was allergic to all poultry, severely so. In the separate FHL Archives (See my sig lines for location.) there are posts on a ferret with worse food allergies. One of our ferrets took a long time for the inflammation to go down, but then stabilized and chicken was his trigger but other poultry worked for him, unlike the sicker ferret.

We had one years ago with colitis for a while from ECE and that also took a long time for the intestinal inflammation to go down.

The one with damage had IBD and congenital intestinal problems, too, and was prone to fur balls because his stomach was increasingly flaccid over time and did not have good motility.

A later ferret had milder IBD without food allergy. It differs a LOT in how bad it is and the easy approaches that work for mild cases like giving pumpkin do not work for many who have moderate or severe IBD.

Oh, and we almost lost one of the ferrets with IBD to heavy cream that was given in a tiny amount as a trial to see if it would help him gain weight, so know that things which help others can backfire without warning in some who have IBD.

IBD can be tricky. Something will work for a while and then no longer work. It depends on the ferret, the severity and more. IBD is a catch-bucket category so there are probably multiple causes. Many things in medicine for any species are still unknown.

Getting those kidney values better is a huge step in the right direction.
