Stomach ulcers occur, and can recur, due to excessive stresses on the body from other illnesses, and he's had his share of those. If not properly cured, ulcers can come right back pretty easily, although a usual sign of that is black/tarry stools, not blood in the urine. How are his stools lately? Any teeth grinding during eating, or at any other times?

What about his urination habits? Frequent and in small amounts, or normal amounts well-spaced apart?

Orange urine *could* be a sign of liver problems. That's what it was both times I've encountered it. How recent was the most recent blood test, and was the bilirubin level high?
