Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Galaxy D
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Last year when I called around to all the vets in my town; my original
exotic vet was still using galaxy D - I've had a ferret have a reaction with
it. I wanted to get the Fervac so we went to Dallas to get it as ...I got
some run around about ordering it specifically for ME. Then someone
mentioned another vet - which I had not called because word is that he
specializes in equines...but he uses the Imrab 3 for Rabies and the Fervac D
so off we went - Six ferrets later (in 3 trips) and I wound up with two
having reactions - I believe to the Fervac. He would not report the
reaction because we gave the vaccines together instead of spaced apart. So
now I have learned the hard way that we must spread them out.

My regular vet uses the IMRAB 3 but uses Galaxy
D and other vets use Rabvac by Fort Dodge. Three vets in our town don't
even know what a ferret is and have never seen one. We have exotic
specialists but they are horse and cattle doctors. hmmmmmm....wishing I had
gone to vet school. *Sorry Jeff, I know this really doesn't address your
question*
