When the names of vaccines change the vaccines themselves are different. Sometimes the changes do not impact use or alter effectiveness, but sometimes the vaccine is less effective or more effective, and sometimes the change is that the vaccine is now grown in ferret cells lines. If the altered vaccine in grown in ferret cell lines then it should NOT be given to ferrets to be safest. This is especially true if it is listed as not being a killed cell vaccine because then it can actually cause canine distemper in ferrets.
