Again, in that situation it is all about timing and the previous vaccination histories. It is also pretty impossible early on to know which of the ferrets have already contracted distemper but not yet developed symptoms vs. which ones have not contracted the illness yet (and can be helped by the vaccines if given long enough before they do catch it).

If the ferrets have been well enough vaccinated BEFORE they CONTRACT the canine distemper then the vaccines can work, BUT if they are already infected and have no protection on board (even without symptoms since CDV tends to be silent at first) then the vaccines will not help but the Vitamin A might.

Vaccinations are done in such instances to protect those who have only some protection from previous vaccines, or ones who are not protected but have NOT yet contracted the distemper.
