Subject: [ferrethealth] Distemper Vaccine NeoVac DA2
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi All,
I'm a ferret owner/rescuer/wildlife rehabber and  I don't know how many of you are/were aware of this vaccine that came out a few years ago. It was available for a short time.

NEOVAC® D is a high antigenic Mass vaccine that will override maternal antibodies, enabling for an earlier protection age. NEOVAC® D's stabilized formula is safe in that there is no shedding of the distemper virus. Studies have shown that NEOVAC® D is completely safe for not only Canines but Ferrets as well. Administer only one dose (1 mL) for initial vaccination of susceptible animals.

It is now available with the addition of Adenovirus DA2 at a very reasonable price. I, and many others have been using it on raccoon, skunks etc. for 2 years with no problems.

PurevaxD used to be fairly priced when Fervac-D was available, now it's WAY high as the "only" approved for ferret vaccine. Maybe someone would know for sure, but I don't believe that added virus fraction is all that bad because the virus used in Purevax-D is Canary Pox. NeoVac DA2 is available through most catalogs for about 1/4th price of PureVaxD.
