Hi, Amanda, and everyone else.

I'm not at all sure age and insulinoma are disqualifiers for dental
work. Our vet wants to work on Zephyr's teeth. Zephyr is over 8
years old, had insulinoma surgery in January, and is now being
maintained on a low dose of prednisolone to keep her blood glucose in
the normal range.

Honestly, I'm debating the wisdom of general anesthesia, even
sevoflurane, on an eight year old to solve dental problems. Our vet
is convinced that the condition of Zephyr's teeth must cause her pain
and is encouraging both a cleaning and at least one extraction. Oh,
and yes, this was caused by a partial soft diet. Zephyr has been
getting Bob Church's Chicken Gravy at least once a day since before I
adopted her, probably for at least the last seven years.

So... all I'm suggesting is discussing the risks and benefits of doing
dental work with your vet.

All the best,
Caity and the dynamic duo
Zephyr and Chin Soon
