Prednisolone is fairly notorious for causing muscle wasting, especially over the ribs and pelvis. Ferrets can get quite thin and bony on prednisolone. However, because prednisolone can also cause abdominal fat deposition (potbellied), the weight itself may not change drastically. Sometimes ferrets can even increase in weight due to the fat accumulation. Fluid retention is not a common side effect, but it can also contribute to weight gain and is especially problematic in ferrets with congestive heart failure.
