I'm with Tressie that these could easily be unrelated,
and her including Dr. William's info on understanding
test results in ferrets was a great choice.
One thing that might be useful with repeated infections
may to look at epizooic disease sites to see where ferrets
and dogs have overlaps, or in case there may be something
that people also can carry and transmit (a problem which
recently happened with a relative and her cat with a
bacterial eye infection, and happened with us and ferrets
years go with a bacterial sinus infection), and see zoonotic
sites (Also look up Zoonoses.) , but as Tressie points out
the first thing is to ask the vet.
If there is a bacterial (not viral) infection there which is
being passed around then until a full run of an effective
antibiotic is given to any individuals with the infection or
everyone builds up a strong immune response to the illness
it may not go away. Antibiotics do not fight viruses, BTW.
Consider possible sources, too, in case these are separate
exposures from a common source such as foods (a more
common problem with raw but can happen with other types
less often), stashes that have spoiled, aquarium water, things
encountered outside, etc.
