To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

There is an excellent article on mast cell tumors here:

http://www.afip.org/consultation/vetpath/ferrets/Mast/mastcell.html

but inside an ear there are some other things which can be more likely
(including it maybe being a tick that needs to be professionally removed
since the ear is high in blood vessels). Because the ear is high in
blood vessels there can be growths related to those vessels as with a
hemangioma or hemangiosarcoma. Alternatively, there also are ones
related to the wax producing (ceruminous) glands. The ear wax
gland growths are more likely to be cysts and these look more like dots
though neoplasia can arise there and can block the canal.

Surgery may be the way to go, depending on what is present and you
vet might send you to a surgical specialist if it looks too complicated
at this location.
