Hi, everyone,

I agree with Tressie completely. We've had good results with surgery
because we not only had highly skilled experienced veterinary surgeons
but ones who had a lot of specific experience with ferrets. I took
Zephyr, who had her surgery back in January, to a vet three hours from
my home for just that reason.

I'll also add that there are always risks involved with surgery,
particularly in a ferret whose system may be compromised. If you
discuss surgery with your vet and decide that is the right way to go
do not skimp on preoperative blood work. The blood tests are what
will let your vet know if there is a hidden condition that would make
surgery inadvisable.

I also agree that ferrets bond closely to their owners and other
ferrets in a household. Separation never is a good idea and it can be
particularly problematic in a ferret that is ill already.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

Caity with Zephyr and Chin Soon
