Subject: [ferrethealth] A "how To" for the FHL!

I was asked the other day a question, I am ashamed to say, I couldn't
answer.
"How do I clean my ferret's ears???"
Hmmmmm.....I responded, "With Q-Tips."
Then the biggie hit me..."What do I use to loosen the 'gunk' in the ear? I
have used 'just Q-Tips, to no avail'" That stopped me cold!
So..I pose this question to the FHL...what solvent/medicine/oil etc. does
one use to facilitate a thorough ear cleaning?
Or if the impaction of 'gunk' is that heavy, is a visit to the vet called
for???
