I've used Sheppard & Greene Ferret Ear Wash for years.

I'd say yes. Ferret ears are delicate and trying to do too much or go
too deep with q-tips can cause damage. Having said that, for cleaning
of the outer ears and breaking up normal ear wax the Ear Wash does
work well.
