The ballpark cost you asked about is usually in the $150 - $200 range,
inclusive of office visit. Some vets use a little bit of anesthesia, some
don't. Over the course of time that the Deslorelin implant is effective
(6-12 months, possibly more), the cost works out to be less than Lupron,
sometimes considerably less. AND, you avoid all of the monthly visits and
all of the extra shots that come with each of those visits.

I very much prefer the Deslorelin implants over Lupron when you can get
them. Your vet is incorrect about 'having to use them all'. They are
individually packaged and usually have a fairly long shelf life. My vet's
first round was 4 implants, and I visited him with different ferrets over
the course of a year to use them. All worked well, although I did see
faster results in some ferrets than in others.
