Also, there is a good bit about that genus in ferrets in the SEPARATE easily searched FHL Archives which can be linked to from the FHL or you can use the second addy in my sig lines. Just put the bacterial genus in the box for what the message body contains and leave the subject box and the from box empty for this particular search.

Since at least two species of Mycobacteria have been encountered in ferrets I would not make an assumption that ferrets could not contract any of the species till more is known. (Here is a previous one:

Your vet should consider checking with some university ferret pathology experts.
