To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a number of different and separate play groups where the ferrets do not interact with one another for various reasons, including not to stress a senior.

This is a common arrangement in multiple ferret households.

Seniors generally do not require as much play time as the youngsters. My seniors are happy to putter about for anywhere from 20 - 30 minutes at a time, before they find a snooze spot.

So organizing separate play sessions is quite do-able. Then everyone is happy.

There is simply no way of knowing ahead of time, how well a senior might take to a new companion, old or young. I've been surprized when a grumpy senior has happily accepted a new companion, and as well, have been astounded when a sweet and gentle senior attacks a Newcomer.

Your heart was in the right place. Its unfortunate Bridget ended up with ulcers, which could have also happened from the grieving process, with or without having to deal with a new ferret.

Hopefully, she will recover fully and will be herself in no time.
