Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Update on Introduction of New Ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Barb and everyone else who has responded to my post on this, thank you so
much for your good feedback and heart felt thoughts. They have helped me
so much, especially because Bridget is still in the animal hospital (she has
been there since Monday). I just talked to the vet, and she said that my
older girl is now taking wet kibble (hand fed) and has more energy, but she
still has diarrhea and the vet is concerned about that plus her continued
lack of appetite. They are sending out for a stool sample today that will
take about a week and they should get updated bloodwork results today. The
vet is puzzled as to why things are not resolving more quickly, if it was
only ulcers or a bacterial gastritis, given the meds that she is on. She
mentioned the possibility of GI lymphoma, saying that maybe Bridget's system
was handling it better until she experienced the stress of losing her mate
and my bringing home new, young Lexie. As bad as I feel about all that has
happened to Bridget with losing Clemy and then my bringing a young ferret
home for her and me so fast, at least I know now that I am sparing no
expense for them to try to do anything possible at the vet clinic to help her.
I am tentatively going to bring her home this evening, with a touch base
with the vet later to confirm that she is able to come home. We love our
animals so much, and it is so hard when they are ill. Lisa
