My only consern with your statememnt is that it apears you are using theĀ  Deslorelin implant as a form of birth control. In humans, prolonged birth control can cause gender cancer. If this is so in humans, what's to say it isn't so in ferrets?

[Ferrets and humans are different species. We do not 'spay' or 'neuter' human children as a means of birth control.

I believe Deslorelin is being used to prevent aplastic anemia, which results from prolonged estrus and is potentially fatal; and as a reduced risk for developing adrenal disease. Birth control would only be a consideration if the owner had a whole hob that might impregnate the jill, which I don't believe she does.

Although oral contraceptive use in humans may increase the risk of cervical cancer, human papillomavirus (HPV) is recognized as the major cause of this disease. Risks for other types of cancer are still undergoing clinical trials because studies to date have very mixed results (National Cancer Institute). - Moderator (TD)]
