So nice to know young & old can blend T. It's an exception and not the rule absolutely and you are so lucky!ng a companion. Older ferrets just cannot handle youngsters in my experience.
[Actually, my experience is similar to Tressie's. I've not had any real problems mixing old and young. I have had problems where personalities clashed regardless of age. My favorite example is Chin Soon. We adopted her when she was 11 months old hoping she'd provide long term companionship to our younger ferrets. She had been an only ferret and the younger ones scared her. Instead she bonded to Podo, a nine and a half year old who had recently lost his brother [literally, as in from the same litter] and was depressed. She and Podo became very bonded. They always slept together and played together and Podo snapped out of his depression thanks to Chin Soon. Thankfully, when Podo passed a few months later Chin Soon had also bonded to two of the remaining three ferrets and had at least reached a truce with the hyper-aggressive Nyssa. In time she and Nyssa were quite the pair :)
When it comes to introductions there are no hard and fast rules, IMHO. Age is one factor of many. --Moderator (CMM)]
