Subject: [ferrethealth] MORE BLOOD VALUES
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
please combine with my other post if possible.
calcium 7.2
TP 4.8
albumin 1.5
globulin 3.3
ALT 835
ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE 84
GLUCOSE AND ALT and globulin are high.
calcium, TP, albumin are low and I know that has to do with nutrition, but they are just below the low normal.
She was told he was in total organ failure and so she put him to sleep.
I am a Medical Technologist and know all about "human" blood work and values and what they mean. I am still learning about ferrets and their values and what they mean.
I also know that in liver disease, the thing to look at is NOT the ALT, but the alkaline phosphatase. One of my girls has an ALT of 800ish for almost 2 years now and she is fine, other than her adrenal disease and insulinoma and we have done nothing to treat her liver.
Can someone help me interpret these values, as I think the vet was wrong in telling her that the little guy was in organ failure, but like I said, I am still learning.
Thanks.
