Human meters will give an idea of direction but you will have to find out what math to do to know the accurate reading.
There is a meter which has a dog setting that works for ferrets and is recommended by ferret vets:

We find that ferret individuals can differ in the easiest place to get blood, but there are some past posts that for many either the side of the tail near the end or the paw pads work best. Rubbing and warming the area beforehand increases blood flow and can help. Some ferrets coagulate very, very rapidly. We have two like that through the years, one of whom we had to try to read blood for and the other was one who the vet had that problem with even with normal blood draws (and the one we had to do readings for also had rapid clotting even with normal blood draws). Many people prefer to separately buy the extra find lancets for use with ferrets but with that one we had to use the removed needles from syringes and found them to be a big improvement.
