Subject: [ferrethealth] Is it worth adding diazoxide to a really sick ferret?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My ferret has been suffering with insulinoma for about 2 yrs now. She has been on Prednisone, up to 2.5 mg twice a day until just recently I cut that dose in half because she started getting crusty skin all over. Now she has large bald spots and the skin is red and there are bumps underneath the skin.
I took her to 4 vets, some say it's calcinosis cutis from the prednisone.
She just had a Lupron injection just in case the skin problem is a symptom of adrenal.
She doesn't seem very happy, she hides all the time and has trouble with her back legs walking. She constantly shakes her body in attempt to shake off whatever is on her skin.
Is it worth the cons (stomach problems, etc.)to put her on diazoxide at this point and cause her more discomfort?
Does anyone know how to ease the stomach problems associated with

I appreciate any feedback.

Ivanna
