While honey may be effective and safe to use in superficial burns, it may create more of a problem if used as treatment for deeper burns. The ferret needs to be seen by a veterinarian who can accurately determine the degree of injury to the affected tissues. I cannot stress this enough, you risk serious infection and subsequent sepsis, which could be fatal, if home remedies are attempted without veterinary assessment and guidance.
