Subject: [ferrethealth] Good Afternoon - Roo's Update
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Good afternoon All...
Several Months ago, I wrote asking for advice, words, something about my sick Roo...which i got and i thanks all who responded...well - Roo has been on Prednolisone(sp?) for months now and Last week i had to bring her to a new vet, since the place i was taking her, their vet went on vacation and his replacement knew NOTHING about ferrets...strange to me that a vet who sees ferrets doesn't think to have a replacement who does...anywho...she seems to be getting worse...the new vet tells me, that on top of the insulinoma(sp?), Roo seems to also be suffering from lymphoma(sp?) and the vet thinks she heard a heart murmur today...Roo's pred has been increased to 80ml(?) twice a day, she is to finish off the antibiotic she was on(Roo had a temp last week) and as well as being put on a diuretic(?) for the swelling...since Roo isnt eating too well, the vet also gave me some stuff that is to be made into a runny pancakey type mixture and give with a large syringe...seems that would stress Roo out more - but am gonna do it cuz i dont want her to starve...i am sure i am missing something but my main concern now is - with ALL this going on, would it be more humane to pts??? it is soooo hard for me to think that Roo could be in any pain...i dont want to prolong any agony, just for the sake of me having my lil furbaby with me...she just looks soooo tired and well you know what i mean - this is getting harder to type so will end...plz advise - thanks kathryn
