Subject: [ferrethealth] Blue black lesion on vulva?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hi,
Has anyone ever encountered a blue black lesion on a vulva? My 7+ year-old ferret has developed one. She is being seen by my vet on Wednesday.
The lesion encompasses an entire labia, no detectable swelling, if anything, the side with the lesion appears somewhat shrivelled and hard.
I am suspecting it is a cancer of some kind. She's had a number of health issues, i.e., insulinoma, pancreatitis and had her left adrenal removed 2 years ago, she also received a Deslorelin implant just before she had the adrenal removed. I check her vulva regularly to monitor for swelling and found this lesion.
I can't find anything in the literature on a lesion like this. Only one recorded case of cutaneous melanoma in a ferret.
Any experience with anything like this?
Thanks.
Tressie
