Hi Caity and everyone else:

Yes, I have had that thought as well. My oldest ferret had insulinoma and had pancreatic surgery. He came through it well also, but was finally laid to rest 3-6-10 because nothing further could be done :(

I actually meant would it be safe to remove BOTH the spleen AND part of the pancreas.

When my vet gets the final report on all of this from the performing doctors I am sure he will have some advice...I guess I am trying to get ahead of myself with advice from FERRET OWNERS. And that reason is because I had took one of my ferrets to a former vet(who BTW was an exotic specialist) because I felt he was having problems. I asked for an xray to be made and the doctor declined and told me that my ferret was healthy and normal. Xrays made by another vet showed that he had swallowed something and it was lodged in his abdomen. We KNOW our pets and I KNEW something was wrong!! I have 2 WONDERFUL and very knowledgeable vets now and I am so very thankful for that!! But, even with all their knowledge I feel sometimes a little something might be missed simply because they have not raised and cared for, day to day, these wonderful creatures. We know their characters and their habits which gives us insight when something seems out of order for them.

I Guess the first step I should take is to start testing brothers blood glucose more often, especially now that there is a nodule on the pancreas.

Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts!!
I hope you and your fuzzies are all doing well.

Jovonna
