Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Lump/tumor on skull
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Thank you. They ruled that out following xrays of his skull (and entire body). His teeth were fine, they had a good look at them when he was under anesthesia. The "lump" is boney, or as the vet said, "it's bone." In the xray it looked just like bone too. A needle aspirate cannot be done b/c it is bone and they cannot penetrate it, that is why they thought of using the dental drill to drill a piece of it off. The swelling on his face came on very quickly, but then resolved. My vet doesn't think it is related, though I kind of disagree, because it was a week later I discovered the lump. He feels the facial swelling was an allergic reaction, and this is a tumor - and just coincidence. He is almost exclusively a ferret doctor. I do know for sure they ruled out any type of salivary cyst due to the xrays and make up of the tumor.
